✦ JOURNEY
The road to the Big Buddha winds through scenery that feels almost cinematic, every bend revealing another sweep of blue sea and sun‑washed hills. You take the curves slowly, watching the Andaman shimmer and vanish between the trees like a secret it’s deciding whether to share. At the summit, the view delivers exactly what your imagination promised: a horizon of blue ocean, green ridges, and the serene glow of white marble.
Then you drop down into Phuket Town, where Sino‑Portuguese façades stand like pastel‑coloured storytellers, each one whispering tales of merchants, migration, and centuries of cultural drift. The temples, the food, the people — they blend together with an ease that feels almost effortless, as if the island has long mastered the art of harmony. And as you stand at the foot of the Buddha, the wind carrying incense and the soft murmur of distant chanting, a stillness settles over you — not the absence of sound, but the presence of peace.
In that moment, you realise the island doesn’t just show you its beauty; it teaches you how to breathe again.
"The sea is the same sea. The same sea is inside you."
— Unknown —
A poetic reflection on the connection between the traveler and the ocean, a key theme in the Phuket Discovery itinerary.

✦ LOCAL SECRET
The Big Buddha is stunning, but the road that leads to it at 6am is even better. Rent a scooter, drive up before sunrise, and watch the sun rise over Chalong Bay from halfway up the hill — you'll have the entire road to yourself.
Did you know that Phuket's Big Buddha sits at 45 meters tall and is constructed entirely of white Burmese marble, weighing over 100 tons? The statue was built in 2004 and has become one of the most iconic landmarks on the island, visible from much of Phuket's southern coast.
