✦ JOURNEY

Palawan has a way of making you forget the rest of the world exists. In El Nido, you will paddle through lagoons that seem to have been designed by a painter who loved green and turquoise equally. You will snorkel over reefs that pulse with color, and you will walk beaches that stretch so far they seem to merge with the horizon. There is another side to Palawan—a deeper one. It is the subterranean river of Puerto Princesa, where you will glide through a cave system so vast that the darkness feels alive. And it is the Batak people, who have lived in these forests for thousands of years, their traditions untouched by time. As you drift through the silent chambers of the underground river, the weight of centuries pressing in from all sides, you will feel the immensity of a world that existed long before you—and will endure long after you are gone.

"It's paradise! It's a hidden secret! You have to go."

 — Traveler's Testimonial —

An excited traveler's description of El Nido, often considered the crown jewel of Palawan and the Philippines. This quote perfectly conveys the sense of discovery and awe that defines the experience.

  ✦  LOCAL SECRET

Skip the tourist boats to the Big Lagoon. Instead, rent a kayak at 5am and paddle there yourself before anyone else arrives. You'll have the entire lagoon to yourself for two hours, and the water is like glass.

Did you know that El Nido's Big Lagoon is protected and only allows a limited number of visitors each day to preserve its pristine ecosystem? The lagoon is actually a collapsed limestone karst, creating a unique geological formation that is home to over 200 species of fish and 50 species of coral.
