✦ JOURNEY

Some journeys are about contrast. This is one of them. One day, you will be lost in the chaos of Manila, your senses overwhelmed by street food, neon signs, and the bright chatter of jeepney horns. The next, you will be standing on the edge of Tagaytay Ridge, looking down at Taal Volcano — a volcano within a lake within an island within a lake. It sounds like a riddle, but it is real. You will hear the Bamboo Organ in Las Piñas, a 19th‑century instrument built from local materials that sings with a voice unlike anything you expect. At the Sarao Jeepney Factory, you will watch artisans transform scrap metal into rolling art, each vehicle a burst of colour and pride. This is the Philippines in all its complexity. And as you stand at the ridge, the cool breeze carrying the scent of pine and earth, you will realise that these contrasts are not contradictions — they are the very fabric of a country that refuses to be defined by a single story. In the quiet moments between these extremes, you’ll feel the country’s heartbeat, steady and unmistakably alive.

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

 â€” Vivian Greene —

A quote that reflects the resilience and vibrant spirit of Tagaytay, where the view of Taal Volcano reminds us of nature's power and beauty.

  ✦  LOCAL SECRET

The best view of Taal Volcano isn't from the main viewpoint — it's from a tiny sari-sari store on the back road to the ridge. They serve the best bulalo in Tagaytay, and the view is exactly the same, but without the tourist crowds.

Did you know that Tagaytay's Taal Volcano is one of the world's smallest active volcanoes, standing at only 311 meters high? It holds the record for being a volcano within a lake on an island within a lake on an island, making it one of the most unique geological formations on Earth.
