✦ JOURNEY

The first time you see a Balinese ceremony, you will realise you are not in the Bali of postcards. You are in the Bali of temples and offerings, of incense smoke and gamelan music. You will visit Besakih, the Mother Temple, and feel the weight of a thousand years of prayer. You will bike through the rice fields of Ubud, the paddies so green they almost hurt your eyes. You will swim in the waters of Nusa Penida, where the manta rays glide beneath you, their movements slow and deliberate.

Bali does not just show you its beauty—it invites you to become part of it. And as you walk through the terraced fields at dusk, the sun setting behind the hills and the sound of distant chanting carried on the breeze, you will feel a sense of peace that you had almost forgotten existed. In that soft twilight, when the sky turns lavender and the fireflies begin their quiet dance, the island feels almost alive beneath your feet.

Stay a moment longer. Listen to the rustle of palm leaves, the murmur of water flowing through ancient irrigation channels, the gentle rhythm of life unfolding without hurry. It is in these small, unspoken moments that Bali reveals its true magic—an invitation not just to witness, but to belong.

"Bali is not just a destination, it's a state of mind."

  ✦  LOCAL SECRET

The Monkey Forest is magical, but the real secret is the temple at its center. Go at 6am when the monks open the gates — before the monkeys and tourists arrive. You'll have the moss-covered shrines and the morning mist all to yourself.

Did you know that Bali's Besakih Temple, known as the "Mother Temple of Bali," is a massive complex of 22 temples spread across the slopes of Mount Agung, the island's highest volcano? The temple is considered the spiritual epicenter of Bali, with the Pura Penataran Agung being the most significant sanctuary within the complex.
